Money in the Bank 2024 was going to be her first solo main roster moment. Dakota Kai was going to win the final 2024 Women's Money in the Bank Triple Threat Qualifier, earning herself entry into the annual ladder match where a briefcase containing a contract to challenge for any women's championship at any time hangs above the ring. She would journey on to battle the five other competitors in a most epic display of courage, valor and badassery. Her hands would pull down that briefcase, securing herself a golden future. But instead... Dakota Kai got screwed over.

July 1, 2024. Boston, Massachusetts. TD Garden. Monday Night RAW. Dakota Kai brought the fight to Zoey Stark and Ivy Nile. Kai had Stark beat with the Kairopractor until Nile broke up the fall. Kairi Sane came out to provide a distraction for Dakota which is completely legal in a triple threat match. Kai took out Nile. WWE Women's Tag Team Champions Alba Fyre & Isla Dawn ran down, attacking Kairi because they are bitter that a week prior Damage CTRL choose them to remind the world what the faction is capable of. Those witches should have felt honored to be chosen... it gifted them a couple more minutes of TV time.

The attack on Kairi resulted in Dakota taking her focus off the match. That gave Zoey a chance to strike Kai down with Z-360 and score the pinfall victory, qualifying for the 2024 Women's Money in the Bank Match on July 6, 2024. Yet again, this question must be asked: Where the HELL was IYO SKY when her friends needed her assistance? IYO speaks constantly of Damage CTRL needing to change, which has resulted in her actions and calls growing their list of enemies. But when her friends could use her help against them, IYO is nowhere to be seen.

Later on backstage, Dakota was asked if her loss will have any effect on IYO's preparations for the 2024 Women's Money in the Bank Match. IYO shot Dakota a look that implied SKY wasn't pleased with Kai's loss. Kai nervously responded that said loss would have no effect on the preparations and/or IYO winning. Honestly, it felt more like Dakota was trying to reassure herself it would have no effect on her standing with IYO. Perhaps, I've been too optimistic everything is okay within Damage CTRL when it's becoming clearer it's clearly not.

Dakota changed the topic, expressing grief about people sticking their noses in Damage CTRL business. Go figure... that self-righteous Lyra Valkyria whose done a bit of that herself attacked Damage CTRL with an assist from The Pipsqueaks Katana Chance & Kayden Carter. 48 Hours after Money in the Bank on the July 8, 2024 Monday Night RAW, Damage CTRL look to end their business with Lyra Valkyria and The KC Express when the two trios battle in a six woman tag team match.

It saddens me to have to chronicle that Dakota Kai won't compete in the 2024 Women's Money in the Bank Match. But this chronicler remains optimistic that great things will yet come for Our Captain, The Leader of Damage CTRL, King Kota herself Dakota Kai. The Captain will not only have a solo moment, she'll have many of them.
