August 5, 2024. Baltimore, Maryland. CFG Bank Arena. Monday Night RAW. Dakota Kai led her sisters IYO SKY and Kairi Sane into Damage CTRL Year III on a mission. This mission was to cut off the head of the snake of this new faction comprised of Sonya Deville, Shayna Baszler and Zoey Stark. As the leader of Damage CTRL, Dakota had challenged the head of this faction, Sonya Deville, to a match. But said match would not go down as planned.

The evening started with Damage CTRL sending this faction running scared. Deville and Stark had attacked Lyra Valkyria as she tried to put away Baszer in a singles match. Dakota, Kairi and IYO charged down to the ring with a fury, clearing the ring of the trio. Later on Sonya, Shayna and Zoey retaliated moments before Kai was set to face Deville, attacking Damage CTRL in the backstage area. Shayna took Dakota out of play, stomping her twice surgically repaired knee to hell. IYO took Dakota's place, scoring a pinfall victory over Deville.

Shayna Baszler has now, not just once but twice over the course of a month, assaulted Kai. First it was the arm, now the knee. Bully Baszler remains sickly obsessed with tormenting Dakota. As we all know, Shayna has been a thorn in The Captain's side since 2018. But the Dakota of 2024 is a much different Dakota than Shayna has ever faced before. In the past, Dakota was never able to defeat Shayna in a one-on-one televised match. Perhaps, the future will bring Dakota Kai the long sought-after moment in which she finally gets that win against her tormentor.

The assault on The Captain's knee resulted in a torn meniscus. She will be out of action for 8 to 10 weeks. In Dakota's stead, IYO and Kairi will not only make life hell for Sonya's faction, they'll also continue to remind the world why Damage CTRL is THE dominant faction in WWE. When King Kota has recovered, there will be even more hell to pay for Shayna Baszler, Zoey Stark and Sonya Deville.
