Nixon Newell vs. Kay Lee Ray on ICW Fight Club

Nixon Newell had returned from her first tour of Japan. She would partake in a few month UK independent scene finale before her next journey began in the spring. Kay Lee Ray and Nixon might have enjoyed some success as a team in Japan, however back in KLR's native Scotland she was the reigning ICW Women's Champion and anything from everywhere else didn't matter. But Nixon hadn't forgotten how the last time they fought in an ICW ring KLR got an assist from her lover, Stevie Boy, to snatch a controversial victory.

KLR would be Nixon's first opponent during a grueling three day weekend. Their match would be taped at The Engine Rooms in Southampton, Hampshire, England for an episode of ICW Fight Club. Future ICW competitor and Women's Champion Molly Spartan would conduct an interview with Nixon prior to her match against KLR. Nixon made it clear this time she knew all of KLR's tricks and was ready to shine the ICW Women's Title up and take it to Wales.

The bell rang and KLR rolled to the floor for a moment before returning to the ring. They were now about to grapple only for KLR to duck and slip back to the floor. Nixon opened the ropes for KLR inviting her back in. KLR choose to enter from another side, pie facing Nixon who returned the favor not taking that shit. Nixon pressed KLR down for a pin attempt and got two. KLR rolled to the floor. Nixon went for a tope but caught herself on the ropes when KLR evaded. Newell tried a running PK only for KLR to catch her leg and sweep her face first onto the apron.

KLR wanted to suplex Nixon on the apron but countered with a superkick followed by The Shiniest Wizard. Nixon smacked KLR across the chest with a couple hard chops before getting eye gouged. KLR held Nixon against the barricade and delivered a hard chop of her own that sent Nixon to her knees. She went for a second, however Nixon evaded and KLR struck her wrist on the steel ring post. Nixon connected with forearms and a double axhandle to the back before climbing onto the apron. She went for a crossbody only to receive a double chop to the chest.

The punishment continued as Nixon was whipped head first into the ring post. KLR rolled Nixon back into the ring and covered her for a two count. The Scot executed a snapmare and kick to the back followed by another pinfall attempt, again only getting two. KLR continued to control the match with chokes and hard slaps across the chest. Nixon blocked KLR's offense and unleashed a machine gun chop party on her opponent. KLR took back control with a rope assisted enzuigiri and another hard chop.

KLR stayed in control whipping Nixon to the ropes and striking her down with a forearm shot each time. The Scot went for a third but this time Nixon caught her with a bridging fallaway slam for a two count. Nixon charged at KLR who cut her off with a leg lariat. KLR went for a cover but Nixon kicked out. Nixon outsmarted KLR countering her attempted brainbuster into a small package for a two. KLR went for the brainbuster again and Nixon evaded. But this time KLR quickly rebounded with a forearm to the back of the head.

Just when it seemed like KLR's third attempt at a brainbuster might pay off, Nixon reversed it into a suplex. But Nixon was too spent to make the cover, allowing KLR to slip to the outside to regroup. Nixon rolled her back into the ring only to receive a jawbreaker when going for an offensive move. She shook the sting off and reverse whipped KLR to the corner. Nixon struck KLR with two running forearms but KLR evaded the third. Nixon slipped to the apron to avoid a strike from KLR, smacking the Scot in the face with a rope assisted enzuigiri.

Newell flew off the top and hit a crossbody cover on KLR but only got two. Looking to finish KLR off, Nixon set her up for The Welsh Destroyer -- which may have done the job during their first ICW match had it not been for Stevie Boy. This time KLR countered with a superkick. KLR hit the ropes intent on hitting offense, only to receive a headbutt but shot right back with an enzuigiri. KLR went again for the brainbuster and successfully executed it this time but still failed to get a three count.

KLR climbed to the top to deliver the swanton bomb but Nixon cut her off with a roundhouse kick to the skull. Nixon pulled KLR down from the ropes into a codebreaker followed by a cover for a two count. Looking to finish this, Nixon lowered a knee pad and charged at KLR with The Shiniest Wizard. But KLR evaded at the last second. Nixon was grazed with a superkick before KLR executed a full force KLR Bomb. But KLR wasn't done. She would hit her own destroyer The Devil's Halo to seal Nixon's fate that day and retain the ICW Women's Title by pinfall.
